It's all about the shoes!
As anyone who has seen the Steve Martin flick ‘Father of the Bride’ knows, sometimes shoes are too glam to be hidden away under a frock.
2009 promises to be the year of coloured wedding shoes. Getting coloured shoes is a great idea, for many reasons – you can wear them again, for one thing (those white silk heels are unlikely to get many outings, if simply because they’ll get filthy!). You could pick the colour of your flowers, or even a metallic shade. Black is a definite no-no – leave that for your guests.
Fabulously funky shoes are a great excuse to make that dress a little shorter, and treat the world to seeing your gorgeous legs! Coloured shoes are already a celebrity trend for 2009, and we’re not just talking colours – we’re talking sequinned, sparkling and quirky. Lime green wedges, canary-yellow heels, strappy aqua sandals or neon pink kittens – nothing is too extravagant this year.
And while you might be looking fabulous in those towering burnt orange platforms, remember your poor feet are likely to be quite tired come evening-time, so make sure you bring some snazzy pumps or ballet slippers (again, no black!) for the reception so you can dance the night away, pain free. If you’re on a budget and looking to spice up your dancing shoes, most craft shops will sell ribbon or sparkles you can add to shoes yourself.
Whatever you decide about your shoes – teal peep-toes, burnt orange ribbons running up your legs or sky-blue, jewel-encrusted flip flops – make sure you pick a pair that are going to make your feel fabulous on your big day.
